Huntley Regional Campground, Gold Beach, Or.

Huntley Campground is a regional park outside of Gold Beach, Or. We got sites backing up to the Rogue River. It is very quiet, and we had an amazing view of the river and wildlife. There is a family of four ospreys living in one of the trees at the park. At one point we saw one of the ospreys catch a fish, only to have a bald eagle try to steal it. The osprey dropped the fish back into the river, then all four ospreys attacked the eagle until it left. I was so caught up in the action that I didn’t get my camera out in time to take any pictures of it. Mia discovered that the river is full of crawfish, and was catching them with her hands.

We kayaked out on the Rogue River almost every day. The only danger, was the Jetboat tours that go up and down the river all day. The early morning and late evening Kayaking was incredible. The Rogue River trail goes through the campground, and we all hiked about 2 miles of the 7 mile trail.

Melinda and Tim left us on the 22nd , and are heading up to Washington. We will meet up with them again sometime in late July or August on our way to Boston.
