Minnesota

July 24th

Kathy and I didn’t sleep well. The temperature never dropped below 80 degrees last night. How I miss my foggy nights. We drove to Minneapolis/St. Paul this morning, and met with Kathy’s “Aunt” Jo (Georgia Lauritzen) for lunch. She picked a great spot, on Lake Como, Dock and Paddle, with outdoor dining, so Oreo could join us. They had cheese curds on the menu, and I had to order them. Mia fell in love with them and almost ate the whole order herself. After lunch Jo showed us around the Lake Como area, where she grew up. It is a beautiful neighborhood, with the lake, miles of paths, a zoo and a conservatory (which Jo’s father used to run). We said goodbye to Jo and headed back to Nerstrand Woods. It was actually cooler this evening. At 6:30 Mia and I, watched a presentation about woodpeckers and their importance to the ecosystem, put on by the Minnesota Parks department.
