Smith River, CA

6/17/21-6/19/21

Drove from Devitt Winery to Smith River. Along the way we stopped and played in the river. It has some of the clearest water I have ever seen. We have spent the last 3 days at John and Jean Bradford's house in Smith River. Their house is located at the mouth of the river, with an amazing view of the ocean. John and Jean have been awesome hosts and we can't thank them enough for letting us park our trailer, and Tim and Melinda's RV in their drive way. We have taken some great walks along the Smith River and the ocean, seeing sea lions, otters, ospreys, fox and much more. The weather has been fantastic.

Friday Night we all went for dinner at The Fat Irish Kitchen and Pub in Brookings, Oregon, which is about 9 miles away. It was recommended by Brendan from Devitt Winery. He said we had to try the Savage Fries, which are wedge fries topped with corned beef, cheese and Louie sauce. They were delicious. They also fill their pint glasses from the bottom, using a magnet to cover the hole after the pint glass is filled There are signs everywhere saying "Please don't finger your cup hole". If you do, your beer will spill all over you.

Saturday we went kayaking on the Smith River. Several sea lions would follow us at a distance, and pop up to look at us.
